Jim Spruyt’s tenure at Rolling Hills began in February 2016, but prior to taking the helm, he served in the same role at a sister facility in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. Spruyt completed his undergraduate studies at Cornerstone College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, before earning a master’s in clinical psychology from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois. A Michigander by birth, Spruyt easily settled into life in the Chicago area, gaining valuable work experience at a variety of nonprofits including therapeutic day schools, residential treatment centers and a psychiatric hospital.
In the end, it’s all about the work and the people. “I just love working with people and seeing what a difference it makes in their lives as they progress through treatment,” Spruyt says. Even as CEO, he still enjoys spending time walking the halls and interacting with patients.
When not working, this husband and father of three has a dozen grandkids to keep him busy.
