Sometimes in life we can find ourselves down a path we never thought possible. Life hands us many challenges, and without the proper coping mechanisms we often find ourselves turning to drugs or alcohol to deal with those issues. For adults, substance abuse can affect careers, marriages and social relationships. If you are struggling with substance abuse as well as depression, anxiety or any other psychiatric issue, you don’t have to face it alone. At Rolling Hills Hospital, we are dedicated to help restore you to mental health wellness.
Rolling Hills Hospital offers medical detoxification for adults 18 years and older in a hospital setting, while also addressing additional psychiatric issues during the treatment process. The Adult Co-occurring Treatment Program provides diagnostic evaluation and treatment for a range of substance abuse disorders in adults including alcohol, opioids (OxyContin, Oxycodone and heroin), benzodiazepines (Valium, Xanax, Ativan and Klonopin), prescription and illicit drugs.
The multidisciplinary team, which includes psychiatrists, social workers, psychiatric nurses, dietician and mental health specialists, works closely with patients and their families to enhance their strengths, and to develop effective coping mechanisms. During a patient’s hospital stay, co-occurring disorders groups will focus on education and skill development.
Topics addressed in these groups include:
- Biological, psychological and social aspects of psychiatric illness and addiction
- Interactions between psychiatric illness and addiction
- Holistic perspective of addiction
- Identification and management of symptoms
- Denial and defense mechanisms
- The effects of co-occurring disorders on families
- Development of coping skills
- Loss and grief
- Stress and anger management
- Shame and guilt
- Health education and nutrition
We begin to plan for each patient’s return to the community from the day of admission. As a result, collaboration and communication among staff are key components to ensure the success of each patient’s individualized treatment plan. Treatment may involve psychological and behavioral components, medical management, group therapy, family education and professionally directed activity therapy.
When Is Co-occurring Treatment the Right Fit?
We make every effort to maximize the opportunity for a patient’s continued growth by communicating with current mental health and/or medical providers upon written consent of the patient during the hospital stay. The goal of the Adult Co-occurring Program is to coordinate a seamless transition to outpatient care upon discharge and successful reintegration into the community. For those patients who are no longer in need of an acute care setting but still require additional day-to-day structure and continued treatment, our Right Step Program offers both a Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Program.
When you need direction and support to overcome the challenges of life, seek the professional guidance of our clinical experts at Rolling Hills Hospital. Together, we can help you restore balance to your life.
